There are actually two types of computer monitors as of today and they are the CRT ones and LCD ones. The main difference between the two is the way on how they display outputs.With CRT or also known as Cathode Ray Tube monitors, images are being produced from a cathode tube and then being displayed on the screen. These types of monitors are usually bulky in size and inefficient when it comes to power consumption. With CRT monitors, you will need to have a bigger place to place your computer monitor on since, as we have mentioned before, CRT monitors are bigger and much heavier as compared to LCD monitors. CRT monitors also have older technology.
LCD monitors use Liquefied Crystals technology in displaying images. These crystals are charged with either positive or negative charge which creates the image that we see on the screen. This type of computer monitor is known to be energy-efficient since it does not require that much voltage when it is used.
Also, you have to consider your budget since your budget plays an important role on whether you can purchase a particular type of monitor or not. You also have to take note that LCD monitors are more expensive than CRT ones.
